"Sometimes the ideas came first and I sought to find the materials.  But most of the time, it was the materials that found me and these creations followed.  It might not seem complicated to use reclaimed elements, but there is much more to its direction.  And much less convenient than opening the lid to a can of paint.  As for the other work, I enjoy changing things, painting them to draw interest.  Just having fun. As for the collages, I stumbled upon really old medical text books, one of which was about post-mortem science.  So I mined the pages and sought the most dark and disturbing and challenged myself to bring some aesthetic 'understanding' to them.  Then, there's my 'Easter with the Mars Men' featuring the Easter Bunny in an astronaut suit.  I'm so lucky my mom hangs onto things like she does.  Otherwise, this almost 40 year old drawing wouldn't be here.  I still remember drawing this, using one of our juice glasses to make the bunny's helmet.  And racing against time to color the page with red and orange markers before they dried out and died."
